Now in it’s ninth year, the Enchanted Garden Winter Lights at the Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens in Tramore is one of the most magical and largest winter light events of it’s kind in Ireland. Tens of thousands of lights cover the stunning Japanese Gardens transforming it into a magical winter wonderland. Visitors come from all over Ireland annually to the event in the heart of Tramore Town Centre and are treated to a spectacular display of lights.
Open from end of November to end of December 4.30pm to 7.30pm (4 nights per week, with extended week days during Christmas Week), the gardens are lit by a sea of twinkling lights, animal sculptures, dramatic tree and foliage lighting, all creating an extraordinary atmosphere filled with old world charm. The event is perfect for all age groups, young children, couples, friends and extended family groups. Visitors can follow a dedicated one way system around the gardens and are met at every turn by magnificent light displays, fuelling the imagination of all who visit. There will be an opportunity to meet live Winter Characters on your walk and for 2024 a new section (The Tree Spirit Path) will open up for the first time. Families and friends can stop by the open fire and enjoy Hot Chocolate or Gluhwein. Hidden fairy doors light up for this special event and a selection of carefully chosen classical and enchanting music fills the air. This is a magical experience for all and is not to be missed….
TICKET PRICE: Adults €8 (+booking fee), Children 3-15 years €4 (+booking fee), Children 2years and under FREE.

The majority of the Winter Lights can be accessed or viewed from viewing points by those using buggies or wheelchairs. Unfortunately our new woodland path section will not be accessible to buggies or wheelchairs. Buggies will need to be parked at the bridge and small children carried or walked to view this small additional area. We hope that Wheelchair users can enjoy the Magic of the gardens in other areas which will have some features similar to the new Woodland Path, there will be some beautiful viewing points over the gardens and lights for those who cannot access steeper slopes.
PARKING
Please note Parking may not be available outside the Gardens or on Pond Road, this road can get very conjested. We would recommend that you park in the nearby streets near or leading down to Pond Road, but not on Pond Road itself. Parking around Tramore Town Centre is FREE.
Please always check our Website and Facebook page for updates, before travelling long distances as this is an outdoor event and may be subject to cancellation in times of severe weather or health and safety issues.
ENERGY POLICY: The Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens have made investments into making this event as energy efficient as possible using all low voltage lighting and operating a sustainable policy wherever possible throughout the event.
