THE GARDENS ARE NOW OPEN EVERY DAY
The Gardens are currently open and we are operating shorter hours (11.00am – 5.00pm – last entry 4.30pm). Government Covid-19 Guidelines are in place.
The Gardens offer plenty of space to enable social distancing and all visitors must remain 2m apart. They are also set up as a one way system which was flexible in the past, however this ‘One way System’ will now need to be strictly adhered to by all visitors. To ensure social distancing is maintained, seperate entry and exit paths will be clearly marked. Please try to bring the exact money for your entry fee (Adults €6 – Children €2) and put this in box provided. Contactless Payments can also be made. As you can see our Website is currently being re-built and once up and running you will be able to pay in advance online.The Gardens are spectacular at the moment and we are so pleased to be able to welcome you back, we have really have missed our visitors and friends of the gardens. We would ask you to assist us when in the gardens by doing your upmost to ensure your own safety, the safety of the staff and those sharing the garden. We look forward to seeing you.
The Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens are set in the beautiful seaside town of Tramore, County Waterford, Ireland. These stunning gardens reflect the life and extensive wanderings of Patrick Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo), who grew up in Ireland, and whose life journey embraced several parts of the world. The gardens pay homage to the fame he attained in Japan through his incomparable literary descriptions of the people, customs and culture of that country.
Follow Lafcadio Hearn’s life journey, first through the Victorian Garden, then to the American and Greek gardens, until you eventually arrive in the Japanese gardens which feature many Japanese plants and Japanese architectural features. The Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens are a haven of beauty and tranquility for all who visit.
Children are introduced to these magical gardens through a special children’s discovery trail, secret pathways, woodlands and Lafcadio Hearn’s fairytales and folklore.
