JAPANESE MARTIAL ARTS EMBU

JOIN US THIS SATURDAY (12th Oct 1-3pm) FOR A JAPANESE MARTIAL ARTS EMBU, a captivating Demonstration of an all Japan Kendō Federation (Zen Nihon Kendō Renmei 全日本剣道連盟) Laido Kata, Jodo Kata and Uchida-ryū tanjōjutsu Demos, as you make your way around our eleven unique garden areas. Set amidst serene gardens and inspired by Japanese culture, this special event will showcase modern Japanese Swordsmanship’s elegance, discipline, and tradition, Japanese Short Staff Fighting another exciting and dynamic discipline. There will also be demos of the Japanese martial art of using a Western-style walking stick which developed a few years after Lafcadio Hearn arrived in Japan. Enjoy this incredibly practical martial arts demonstration as we fundraise for our new Kokoro Cultural Centre.
This demo promises of a cultural deep dive into Japan’s rich martial arts heritage. Don’t miss this unique fusion of Irish-Japanese history in a one-of-a-kind venue celebrating Lafcadio Hearn, the Irish-Greek writer with deep connections to Japan.
