THE ENCHANTED GARDEN
ENCHANTED GARDEN WINTER LIGHT FESTIVAL
Now in its fifth year, the Enchanted Garden is quickly becoming recognised as one of the leading Winter Light Festivals in Ireland. These unique Japanese Gardens are lit at night by a sea of twinkling lights, animal sculptures and dramatic tree and foliage lighting, all creating a magical winter wonderland. Visitors young and old will be mesmerised as they walk through the gardens and are greeted at every turn by stunning displays. The Winter fairy will walk through the gardens this year and adults and children may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of her as she magically appears in the Japanese Ceremonial Teahouse. Visitors can warm their hands by the open fire and enjoy takeaway tea, coffee hot chocolate and Gluhwein as they follow the paths on a one way system through 1.5 acres of light features. The Victorian Garden adds old world charm to the experience and will fuel the imagination for all who visit. This event is suitable for Adults and Children of all age groups. The theme this year is ‘Waterford Shines’ and light colours will be a tribute to the great effort made by the frontline staff and the people of Waterford City and County during 2020.
COVID-19 GUIDELINES
It is the priority of Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens to ensure the safety of Staff, Volunteers and Visitors to the Gardens for our 2020 Light Experience. Covid-19 Guidelines are in place throughout the gardens. Tickets need to be purchased in advance and visitors are given time slots to enable safe entry and exiting. Visitors will be asked to adhere to Social Distancing throughout and there will be signage to enable this. The experience is a one way walk through the gardens and those attending are required to leave at least 10m distance between themselves and the people in front of them. Masks will be required when ordering Takeaway Tea/Coffee etc. Due to the National Framework Guidelines there will be no additional events in 2020 (ie. Opening/Closing Ceremonies or Special New Years Event). The Winter Fairy will not be meeting children in the Dome due to Covid Restrictions, but she will be walking through the gardens.
We wish everyone who attends a very enjoyable and safe experience #staysafe.
